Red-Hat II
2, 3, and 4 way Solenoid Valves
ASCO Red Hat II solenoid valves are available in a multitude of styles, port
sizes, pressure & temperature ratings, and coil options. Below are brief descriptions
of the main valve groups available.
ASCO 2 way Valves
The 2 way solenoid operated and air operated valves have one inlet and
one outlet connection. They are available with the following types of operation:
- Solenoid Valves
- Normally Closed -- closed when the coil is de-energized,
open when energized.
- Normally Open -- open when the coil is de-energized,
closed when energized.
-
- Air Operated Valves
- Normally Closed -- closed when the operator is
exhausted, open when pressurized.
- Normally Open -- open when the coil is exhausted, closed
when pressurized.
Solenoid operated valves are available, as listed, with Red Hat solenoids
having metal enclosures, or with Red Hat II molded epoxy solenoids. Red Hat II solenoid valves
are identified by the change letter "G" in their catalog numbers, e.g. 8030G16,
and are shown in red.
Air operated valves are available, as listed, with either
instrument air operators (3-30 psig) or pneumatic operators (30-125 psig).

ASCO 3 way Valves
The 3 way solenoid operated and air operated valves have
three pipe connections and two orifices; either orifice is open when the other is closed.
The valves are available with the following types of operation:
- Solenoid Valves
- Normally Closed -- exhausts pressure when the coil is
de-energized, applies pressure when energized.
- Normally Open -- applies pressure when the coil is
de-energized, exhausts pressure when energized.
- Universal -- for normally closed or normally open
operation (8317 Series), or pressure at any port (8300, 8314, 8320, 8325 and 8380 Series).
- Air Operated Valves
- Normally Closed -- exhausts pressure when the operator
is exhausted, applies pressure when pressurized.
- Normally Open -- applies pressure when the coil is
exhausted, exhausts pressure when pressurized.
- Universal -- for normally closed or normally open
operation.

ASCO 4 way Valves
The 4 way solenoid operated and air operated valves are available as
shown in either 4-ported or 5-ported configuration. They are available with the following
types of operation:
- Single Solenoid Valves
- Valve shifts when solenoid is energized, returns to normal position when
de-energized.
-
- Dual Solenoid Valves
- Valve shifts when one solenoid is energized, returns when the other is
energized. May be energized momentarily or continuously.
- Single Air Operator Valves
- Valve shifts when operator is pressurized, returns when energized,
Solenoid operated valves are available, as listed, with Red Hat solenoids
having metal enclosures, or with Red Hat II molded epoxy solenoids. Red Hat II solenoid valves
are identified by the change letter "G" in their catalog numbers, e.g. 8030G16,
and are shown in red.
Air operated valves are available, as listed, with either
instrument air operators (3-30 psig) or pneumatic operators (30-125 psig).
Many optional features may be added to your valves, e.g.,
high temperature Class H molded coils, manual operators and metering devices. See the
Optional Features Section for details.
